FRiends and family test

Boosting healthcare quality through feedback.

The NHS Friends and Family Test is a contractual requirement, aimed at providing service users with an opportunity to give feedback which may not have previously been heard.

In order to improve the quality of healthcare services and give patients a voice, healthcare providers are encouraged to implement the Friends and Family Test (FFT) and adhere to specific guidelines for administering and reporting results.

According to NHS England, the data collection process for the Friends and Family Test (FFT) should not be burdensome for providers and patients, and instead should be flexible. Providers can collect data through various methods, including handwritten postcards, telephone, tablets, SMS/text messages, apps or online platforms, or any other method agreed upon within the organisation.
